Design Tools

Designed as a XHTML 1.0 Transitional website on Macromedia Dreamweaver MX 2004, it supports mainstream browsers such as Mozilla, Mozilla Firefox, Netscape Navigator, and Microsoft Internet Explorer.

Mozilla Firefox was used as the test browser for the site. Web designers can install the extensions Colorzilla and Checky. Colorzilla is used as a dropper tool for colors, while Checky automatically checks pages for W3C standard compliance.

As for the graphics, we use the GNU Image Manipulation Program (Gimp) and Google's Picasa to do quick editing.

Chinese and Malay Language versions

Why provide language alternatives?

  • To encourage our students to use more of their Mother Tongue to improve their command of the language
  • Providing language alternatives will also allow parents and other visitors a new level of convienience, enabling us to reach a wider audience

Therefore, we are currently in the process of translating this English version to Chinese 中文(简体) and Bahasa Melayu.

When this is fully completed, Hai Sing Catholic School will be Singapore's first school website that is avaliable in English, Chinese and Malay. The Mother Tongue Department will collaborate with the ITMR Club to achieve this goal.

Unfortunately, Tamil (தமிழ), another of Singapore's official language, cannot be included as an alternative, due to technical limitations. However, do contact us if you know any free translation tools that can translate English to Tamil. We would be happy to include a link.

As for other languages, try Google Translate. It can translate 8 different languages. Be warned that translations are not entirely perfect though.
